I once had tons of excuses as to why I couldn’t work out. I’m tired, I don’t have the time, it costs too much blah blah blah etc… But my biggest excuse was my hair! As crazy as it may sound it was the biggest hurdle for me, but I also hear the same excuse from so many other women. Woman who can relate to this issue are usually busy working moms or professionals who just do not have the extra time in their day to tackle HAIR. Whether you are black, white yellow or green no woman wants to be seen in public with “I just finished my workout” hair. Hair is big in my community, and NO we are not vain, we just like to look presentable in public.
So I finally decided that this was no longer going to be the reason why I couldn’t change my lifestyle and become more active. With doing my research I saw that extensions were a great alternative for me. I could get in a great sweat session and go straight to work. But that started to become costly and I couldn’t wash my hair as frequently as I liked. I tried braids but that made my hair break off around the edges. So here I was with this dilemma once again.
So one day on Twitter I saw a celebrity (can’t remember which celebrity) but she tweeted about this product called Save Your Do by Nicole Ari Parker. It’s a head wrap for you to wear while working out. The idea of the wrap is to absorb the sweat and keep your hair dry and in place. So I received 2 wraps, a full triangle head wrap and a small headband styled wrap for under $40 that included shipping. Once I received my wrap a week later I used the smaller wrap because I was wearing a ponytail. I completed 30 minutes of cardio (treadmill) and during my run I never wiped sweat from my brow, whereas before I would use a towel to my wipe my face numerous times because sweat would get into my eyes. I was truly impressed! Once I removed the wrap my hair was still intact and mostly dry. But only my edges were damp. On the other hand the head wrap itself was soaked. The following morning I wash and straightened my hair before work. That evening I used the full triangle wrap while completing my workout of 30 minutes cardio (treadmill) and 30 minutes of Jillian Michael’s Ripped in 30 DVD . I wrapped my hair like I normally would do at night before I went to sleep and placed the gym wrap on top of my wrapped hair. After the workout my hair once again was still intact and mostly dry. I can honestly say that this product was worth every penny! I now am able to workout worry free of my hair!
Using excuses as to why you are unable to workout are now being debunked with tools and products to use that cost next to nothing.
